Inspire hundreds of delegates at WYSTC 2013 in Sydney

This year at WYSTC we are looking for dynamic, engaging and inspiring speakers to address our global audience of youth travel industry professionals.

Are you a natural public speaker with expertise on a relevant topic? Do you have an issue that will educate our attendees on a vital topic relating to their business? Do you have a powerful message or subject which will engage our global audience?

If the answer is yes to the above questions then we want to hear from you!

Complete the speaker application form and you could become one of our WYSTC conference speakers. Applications close Friday, 31 May.

Proposed Topics and Sessions

To complete the application form you will need to create a session title, select your topic based on the proposed session themes below, specify your target audience, describe the session and suggest a presenter.

Suggested session themes

The below proposed themes for WYSTC 2013 are based on past conference session topics and attendee feedback, and have been created by the WYSTC Advisory Committee:

1. Trends in Youth and Educational Travel

a. Inspiring the New. An understanding of the Youth Travel Industry for those that are just getting into global market

b. Location Location Location. Topics regarding a specific geographic area (country, region, etc…)

c. Topics regarding a specific youth travel segment

d. Overall travel trends

e. Overall economic trends that may affect travel trends

2. Topics related to youth travel


a. Government Regulations on Youth Travel

a. Safety Issues for young travellers

b. Passport and visa issues

d. Promoting the value of youth travel

3. Marketing


a. Needs of a specific demographic: targeting a geographic region/country, targeting a specific age group (university, secondary school, etc…)

b. Needs of a specific interest group (backpackers, volunteer tourism, group tours, study abroad, sports tourism, religious youth travel, etc…)

c. Online marketing targeting youth travellers

d. How destination management organizations can attract youth travellers (groups and individuals)

4. Youth industry sales practices


a. General selling techniques

b. Specific selling techniques for specific audiences: How to sell your accommodation, destination, language school, etc…

5. Youth Travel Industry operations practices


a. For group tour operators

b. For specific business types: accommodations, travel agencies, study abroad, work abroad, etc…

Presentation Formats

WYSTC strives to use a variety of formats in presenting seminars: Individual speakers, panel discussions, and workshop settings. A topic/speaker could be presented as a breakoff session for a smaller group or as a general session for all participants.

Key dates

16 April – 31 May — speaker applications open
1 – 30 June — speaker applications reviewed
1 July — speakers announced

Please note: All speakers are to be registered by the 31 July.

All submissions will receive a response after 1 July, 2013. A speaker contract will be sent to each speaker to confirm the details of their application. WYSTC reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and/or to work with specific speakers to modify their suggested presentations.
